- Supporting Education Through Evaluation and Knowledge
Suitability for admission
Suitability for admission is determined following a considered review of a multi-disciplinary assessment portfolio.
Standardised assessment reports from Educational Psychologists, Speech-Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, medical practitioners, current schools and Learner Support Educators are considered valid in comprising this portfolio.
The criteria for admission are that the child would benefit from the education and resources on offer at Bellavista School.
Admissions process
Bellavista S.E.E.K. is our registered child development clinic where a number of expert multidisciplinary teams, under the guidance of a lead psychologist, conduct in-depth cognitive and educational assessments for children age 3 – 18, both nationally and internationally.
These global assessments provide the necessary information needed to support children either in the current school environment and those who will come into Bellavista School or attend any other support environment.
The child
The team works together to assess all aspects of the child’s developmental progress.
Psychologists may assess using the Griffiths, WIPPSI, WISC-V or CAS in addition to conducting a scholastic battery of assessment that looks closely at reading, spelling, Mathematics and written output in the classroom.
The team
The team is enhanced with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Therapists and Remedial Therapists who bring their own expertise in their specific fields to assist the parent in making informed educational decisions.
The parents
Parents are included in the collaborative process and may also invite professionals working with their child to the detailed case conferences.
A well-structured and thorough written report, with carefully considered recommendations, is prepared to assist parents in guiding the process into the future.
Reports
Bellavista S.E.E.K. is well equipped to prepare reports for examining bodies at a high school level to motivate for exemptions and accommodations in secondary school years.
